Many people have asked why do we have so many Gods in
Hinduism?
It is said that there are about 33 Crore Gods or 330
Million. Yes 33 Crore.
Is it practically possible to worship so many Gods?
While I think of an answer for the above question – someone
else asked is there God at all?
Now, it is tough to convince either way.
Let me say how I feel about it.
I watched a Tamil movie many years ago. The hero in the
movie was a so called atheist. However he tries to convey that there is God in
everything and anything.
That is exactly mentioned in our scriptures too.
The fore fathers or founders have given meaning and dimension to every aspect
of life.
Every living being has Godliness in itself. And there has
been some form of God attached to it. For example – there are Gods incharge of
every feeling, every emotion. From love to tears. There are Gods representing all
senses, all the elements available in the nature. Gods representing every
living thing and non living thing. There are Gods for the good, for the bad,
for creation, for destruction, for maintenance. For intelligence, for valour,
for prosperity, skills.. You name it – you will find a God. Almost all animals
in the animal kingdom are either Gods or vehicles/partners of Gods ( Viz
Elephant to a mouse, to a serpant) . You will find Gods in all forms and sexes.
For time being, keeping aside the concept of a supreme one.
So, what is the inherent message?
There is God and Godliness in anything and everything. From
material to feelings, one may choose whichever form one likes to connect
mentally and spriritually at any point in time!
Whether or not so many Gods being there is the question. It
is more like - an importance and respect given to every little creation – tangible
& intangible.
Anbe Sivam! ( Love is God).. !
